Medical and Commercial Extrusion Technicians
SUMMARY
As an Extrusion Technician, you’ll provide technical assistance and support needed to operate machinery within Argos Corporation’s commercial or medical operations. You’ll set-up, operate, troubleshoot, and clean all extrusion manufacturing equipment per specialized standards. You’ll fill out production documentation per ISO13485 regulated Quality Management System Work Instructions, perform raw material management, conduct mixing and blending of raw material components, handle finished goods packaging, and you will provide mentorship to team members.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Sets up, runs, and adjusts manufacturing equipment per specialized standards on multiple pieces of machinery and/or processes.
- Operates equipment and performs troubleshooting as needed.
- Performs quality checks to assure product compliance and examines product for defects.
- Uses quality tools such as calipers, micrometers, and pin gauges along with vision systems and laser micrometers
- Fills out production documentation per GMP.
- Take action to ensure quality limits and efficiency targets are met.
- Monitor raw material usage and tracks production throughout production lots.
- Organizes work area and work team maintaining a clean work area.
- Performs total machine clean up.
- Handles change overs and clean ups of machinery.
- Works independently with little supervision.
- Adhere to all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures for health, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Trains and provides mentorship.
OTHER DUTIES AND SKILLS MAY INCLUDE:
- Complex medical extrusions such as multi-lumen, multi-layer, and bump tubing
- Deliver effective feedback while delegating work responsibilities to peers.
- Add, subtract, multiply and divide decimals and fractions.
- Understanding of weights and measures, including metric.
- Read precision measuring instruments.
- Strong trouble shooting and critical thinking skills.
- Communicate effectively (both verbally and written).
- Must be flexible regarding manufacturing environment work schedules.
- Complete work within GMP and ISO13485 compliance.
- Work safely within guidelines.
- Can lift up to 50lbs, consistent lifting of less than 20 lbs.
- Capable of standing on feet for long periods of time while monitoring equipment.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED equivalency required; Technical High School diploma preferred or Associates Degree in STEM field.
- Minimum of 2 years in a manufacturing environment or strong demonstratable equivalency required.
- Experience working in a controlled system (Ex: ISO9001/13485); Medical device industry background preferred.
- Experience working with melt extrusion.

Reporting to the Floor Manager, this role will support manufacturing efforts by adhering to the guidelines of an ISO13485 and ISO9001 Quality Management System. This role will be vital in assuring that high quality products are manufactured, assembled, and packaged.
Argos Corporation is looking for dedicated, hardworking, and reliable medical assembly manufacturing employees to manufacture, assemble, and package medical products.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assembly, packaging, and secondary operation manufacturing tasks as assigned.
- Adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), FDA, ISO, environmental requirements, and other company requirements
- Adhere to safety guidelines.
- Maintain production accuracy and quality.
- Accurately track individual manufacturing output throughout the day and report to the Floor Manager
- Accurately follow secondary operation procedures and quality instructions for the job orders assigned.
- Ability to work well in a team and individually.
- Understand and perform in-process inspection to assure that only high-quality products are being produced and shipped.
- The ideal candidate is a fast learner with a willingness to learn and work in a constantly changing work environment.
- Ability to perform delicate and repetitive tasks.
- Use various machines and hand tools to accomplish assigned jobs.
- Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints is preferred.
- Experience in a cleanroom is preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid Transportation
- Read, Write, and Understand English
- Ability to understand work instructions, process guidelines, quality documentation, and visual workmanship.
- Ability to remain productive under indirect supervision and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to handle small and delicate parts.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing and cleanroom environment. My sit or stand for long periods of time depending on the jobs assigned.

QUALITY INSPECTOR
Reporting to the Quality Manager and Lead Inspector, this role will support Quality efforts by adhering to the guidelines of an ISO13485 and ISO9001 Quality Management System. This role will be vital in assuring that final product is acceptable prior to packaging.
Responsibilities:
- Perform visual and physical inspection on products.
- Perform measurements properly using gages, go/no go pins, digital calipers, tensile tester, Vision Gauge, and other equipment.
- Give feedback to production employees regarding product discrepancies in real time, to minimize rejections.
- Report out of tolerance product to Quality Manager.
- Perform AQL measurements on production parts.
- Assist in compiling quality data for Qualification Protocols.
- Work in White Room environment.
- Assist Quality Manager and Inspection Lead in quality related functions.
- Properly care for measuring and test equipment and determine acceptability of product using company guidelines.
- Document all findings and report any non-conformances.
- Working knowledge of measurement methods (will train).
- Complete paperwork such as data sheets using GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
- Packaging product per customer specifications or Argos established protocol.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
- At least 1 to 3 years’ experience performing QA functions, or ability to show aptitude to learn role.
- Packaging and inspecting skills play an important role in this position.
- Must be able to read, write and understand verbal direction in English for safety precaution.
- Basic mathematical skills and ability to follow written and verbal direction as well as diagram form instructions.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office such as Excel.
